Optimize Your Cleaning Routine Instantly

Though keeping a clean apartment is important, it doesn’t mean that the cleaning process should take a lifetime. To clean your apartment in record time, follow these simple guidelines:

Below are 5 simple steps to start optimizing the way you clean your apartment. Print this post and put it on your refrigerator.

  • Get the right tools for the job: Cleaning goes a lot quicker if you’re using the proper tools (more on this later).
  • Don’t clean what isn’t dirty already: Start by cleaning your sinks, toilets, and food preparation areas thoroughly, however, feel free to skip to other areas in the apartment if they are already in decent shape.
  • Clean only one room at a time: Don’t burn yourself out. Rather than doing one task in all rooms of your apartment (like vacuuming), clean room-by-room, only move on to the next area when you’ve finished the last.
  • Work top to bottom: I can believe I’m admitting this now, but my wife has been telling me to do this for years. If you mop the floor before dusting the ceiling, then all that nasty dust will land on your newly mopped floor. Cleaning from top to bottom ensures that you won’t be repeating any of these steps when cleaning your apartment.
  • Clean Regularly: Your mother was right, the longer you wait to clean, the more difficult it will be later on. It takes only a few seconds to wash a dirty plate after you use it, but it takes a whole lot longer to wash after the food on it has dried; not to mention all the bacteria that can develop while it sits and collects. If you clean your apartment more regularly, you’ll be spending less time doing so later on.
